Find the Late Night Music Circle

The CONvergence Late Night Music Circle starts every night of the convention at 10 pm in Hyatt 4 Lake Minnetonka. Come to play an instrument, sing, or just listen!

Participate in the Circle

Whether you’re a seasoned pro, or it’s your first time ever singing in front  of an audience, the Late Night Music Circle is a welcoming space, open to any and all. Or if you just want to listen, the singers and musicians love an audience! Stopping by the music circle for a while can be a calming break from the intensity of late-night partying. Sit down, relax, and enjoy a song or three.

Please bring your own instrument or instruments. The music circle is an acoustic music space; no amplification is provided  (although quietly amplified instruments are welcome, too.) There is usually a mix of guitar, mandolin, fiddle, hand percussion, and other folk instruments. On a good night, you’ll hear everything from an acappella singer to the whole room singing and jamming along. People may play filk, original songs, pop covers, folk standards, show tunes, and more—if you love the music, come to Late Night Music Circle and share it!

How does it work?

Participants gather chairs in a circle, and all are equal in the circle. Music proceeds around the circle, each musician taking a turn. When it’s your turn, you can play, pass, or make a request from another musician. Just be respectful of the other performers and have good time! Music starts when the room opens, and runs until the last musicians are too tired to play anymore. Please join in!
