With CONvergence: The Stuff of Legends postponed to August 5th – 8th 2021, we know you have questions about options for your CONvergence 2020 membership, hotel reservations, and more.
All CONvergence 2020 memberships have been automatically extended through the 2021. This means that if you bought a membership for CONvergence 2020, you now automatically have a membership for CONvergence 2021 including admission to the 2021 convention. If you wish to keep your CONvergence 2021 membership, you do not need to do anything at this time. If you prefer to cancel or donate your extended membership, please see the next sections.
Membership Cancellation and Refunds
If you would prefer to cancel your CONvergence 2020 membership instead of having it extended through CONvergence 2021, and/or require a refund, you can request it by filling out this form: 2020 Membership Refund Request
This is a special one-time exception to our normal membership policy because of the unique circumstances due to COVID-19 that have impacted the CONvergence 2020 membership cycle and convention.
All requests for refunds must:
- Be requested by filling out the 2020 Membership Refund Request form and submitting it between July 1, 2020 and 11:59 PM CST July 31, 2020.
- Be requested by the individual who originally purchased the membership. If your membership was purchased by someone else and you would like a refund, they will have to fill out the refund request form for you. Only requests from the original purchaser will be accepted.
- Be credited to the original credit card, or in the situation that Authorize.net cannot process the refund electronically, a printed check will be issued and sent to the address provided when filling out the form. If this address is different from the address provided during the initial registration, further verification may be required.
If You Bought a Child or Teen Badge for 2020 but will be In a different Age Bracket in 2021
Any member who has a birthday before August 5th, 2021 that puts them in a different badge age category from their 2020 membership will be issued the badge that corresponds to their age at the time of the 2021 convention, regardless of the price at time of purchase. So, if you bought a teen badge for CONvergence 2020, but will be 18 during CONvergence 2021, you don’t need to worry!
Want to Donate Your Membership?
If you wish to donate your CONvergence 2020 membership fee to Convergence Events, Inc, you may indicate so by checking the designated box on the 2020 Membership Refund Request form.
Want to Donate to CONvergence in Other Ways?
We are exploring other options for the community to donate to Convergence Events, Inc. and CONvergence to help offset some of the expenses associated with the postponement of the 2020 event. Please keep an eye out for updates on social media and in your email.

Dealers Room and Artists Alley
If you were a selected vendor or artist for CONvergence 2020, we understand that times are tough for you with so many conventions having been postponed or canceled. You may request a table and membership refund using the 2020 Membership Refund Request form. If you allow your table and membership fee to roll forward to CONvergence 2021, your spot in the Dealers Room or Artists Alley is guaranteed for the 2021 convention.
If you do apply for a refund at this time, you will need to reapply as a vendor or artist for CONvergence 2021 in accordance with the vendor policy/procedure dates, and you will be given preferred status (but not guaranteed a spot) during the selection process. If you do not reapply, you will not be considered for a spot in the Dealers room or Artists Alley.
CONvergence 2021 Membership Price Increase
Due to rising costs and budgetary concerns to keep the convention solvent, CONvergence 2020 adult membership pricing has increased slightly. Because of this, we will not be issuing a refund on the $10 January 15, 2020 price increase. The new prices are below.
- Until January 15th: $85
- Until June 1st: $95
- After June 1st through the end of the convention: $125
- Teen and youth membership prices for 2021 and beyond will not change.
Registration for CONvergence “The Stuff of Legends” 2021 is now open. Click here to register now.
Additional Refund Questions
If you have any question not covered in this post, please contact us. (Select “CONvergence 2020 Refund Inquiries”.)
Hotel Reservations
The Hyatt Regency and the Millennium Hotel are not able to roll room reservations over to 2021. You should have received cancellation notifications already. If you have not, please contact CONvergence Hotel Room Allocations for more information or help.
All other hotels listed on our website have been informed of our postponement. If you have reservations with one of them, you will need to contact them to cancel your reservation or move it to the CONvergence 2021 dates.
We will start over with hotel room reservations in the first part of 2021. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
CONvergence Online
We are working on developing opportunities to bring you some of your regular CONvergence squee during August 20th to August 23rd, 2020 and hope to help you continue the squee year round. We do not yet know exactly what that will look like, but keep an eye out for future emails and social media updates.
However, CONvergence now has an online content community, located at discourse.convergence-con.org. Going forward, this will be where to find links to ongoing online content, and discussion about—well, all kinds of stuff you’d get to talk about if you were at a con! The Discourse site is in addition to our current online social media community.
Currently you can sign up and sign in in one of three ways:
- If you know the email address and password you used to register for the convention, you can use those by saying ‘Use CONvergence Portal.’
- If you have a Google account, you can use that.
- You can just supply an email address and password.
- In the future, we’ll also make it easy to sign in with Facebook and Twitter accounts.
A Great Time To Become a CONvergence Volunteer!
As you know, CONvergence is one of the largest volunteer-run fan conventions around, and we would not be able to do this without the 200+ year-round volunteers of the CONvergence Convention Committee. There are all kinds of roles, tasks, and skill sets involved in making CONvergence the event and community that you love. If you are finding that this year’s CONvergence hiatus might be a great time to get more involved with year-round volunteering, then we would love to hear from you.
Learn more about volunteering by checking out the Volunteer Positions page, or simply contact the CONvergence volunteers department and they can help you find the right volunteer opportunity for you!
