So, you want to more know about CONvergence, do you?

CONvergence is an science fiction and fantasy convention held annually at the Sheraton South Hotel in Bloomington, MN. The convention features an Art Show, multiple discussion panels, guests of honor, a Masquerade ball, free food and drink for attendees, and dozens of room parties.

The convention is held the first full weekend in July. CONvergence 2008 will be held July 3-6, 2008.

Attendees need to register for CONvergence and may consider reserving a hotel room for the event.

CONVergence also has some rules and policies you should know about.

Each year, CONvergence has a different theme. In the past, we've had such themes as the Matrix, Alice in Wonderland, Time Travel, and Superheroes. 2008 is our Year Ten blowout, and all previous years' themes are in play. Read more here.

CONvergence is run by its parent organization, the Minnesota Society for Interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy, CONvergence acts as a fundraiser for the society, providing funds for the many clubs, programs and events it sponsors under the umbrella of MISFITS.

CONvergence is also run entirely by willing slaves...er, volunteers. We're always looking for help both before and during the convention. Perennial volunteering hotspots include: Gravediggers (our move in and move out crew - especially the move out part), Operations, Registration, and Consuite. You don't have to sacrifice an entire weekend to help out; if you have a spare hour or two during the convention, head on over to the volunteers desk to see how you can help. Even an hour can make a big difference. Contact volunteers@convergence-con.org for more information on how YOU can directly contribute to the success of CONvergence.
