CONvergence is pleased to welcome Bridget Landry as a Guest of Honor at CONvergence 2006. Bridget Landry holds degrees in chemistry (BA, UCSD, 1984) and planetary science (MS, Caltech, 1986) and works as an engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. She has worked on the Hubble Space Telescope and the joint US-French oceanographic Earth orbiter Topex, where she was a Sequencing Engineer. Ms. Landry's favorite position so far has been on the Mars Pathfinder project, where she did a variety of jobs, from adapting software packages to the Pathfinder command set, to preparing and verifying many of the imaging commands and panoramas. Ms. Landry currently works on the Cassini Mission to Saturn, where she is once again in sequencing, and supported the highly successful Huygens probe release, landing and data relay. She also takes great interest in the advancement of women in technical fields, and the helps and bars to their progress, as well as in the problem of sparking and maintaining girls’ early interest in science and math. With the other side of her brain, Ms. Landry is a Master Level costumer, who has been on panels and won Masquerade awards from the local to the WorldCon level. |
