What does Publications do?
The Publications Division creates a number of individual publications for the convention, including Progress Reports, The Souvenir Book, The Programming Guide and Programming Grid. Publications also creates forms and mailings for the convention, graphics for CONvergence Publications and Merchandise, and signage used by different convention departments.
What Publications does the convention send by mail?
Post-Mortem Report / Progress Report 1
Published in November of each year, the Post-Mortem Report / Progress Report 1 (or PR1) provides a major overview (Post-Mortem Report) of the most recent convention, including a breakout of attendance, budget, awards, and a selection of photos. Also included is brief preview (Progress Report 1) of the following year's convention, including a description of the annual theme and a listing of scheduled Guests of Gonor. It includes forms for Membership Pre-Registration and Hotel Room Reservation, and is mailed in time to Pre-Register before the first rate hike at year's end.
Progress Report 2
Published in March of each year, Progress Report 2 (or PR2) features a more comprehensive preview of the coming convention, including more Guest of Honor listings and more detailed listing of planned events. It includes forms for Membership Pre-Registration and Hotel Room Reservation, and is mailed in time to Pre-Register before Pre-Registration closes on May 15.
How do I have these Publications sent to me?
CONvergence mails Progress Reports to everyone who is on our mailing list. When you register for the convention, providing a mailing address puts your on our Publications Mailing List, and providing an email address puts you on our Email Announcement Distribution List. To be added or removed from either list, you can send an email to registration@convergence-con.org.
What Publications are distributed at the convention?
When you pick up your Membership Badge from Registration at the convention you will receive a Membership Packet that includes the following Publications:
Souvenir Book
The Souvenir Book is a larger format (8.5x11") book featuring biographical information on our Guests of Honor, the Convention Committee listing, our "Thank Yous" and acknowledgments, an annual update on the activities MISFITS has to offer, and our sponsor advertising.
Programming Guide
The Programming Guide is a smaller format book (8.5x5.5") that is your guide to all the convention events, with hotel maps and schedules for Panels, Mainstage events, the Cinema Rex Movie Room,the Theater Nippon Anime Room, and more. There is also a "Parties Guide" section, with descriptions and locations for the dozens of individual room parties to be found at the convention. This publication is bursting at the seams with information about things to do at the convention, and is as current and accurate as we can make it. Updates and corrections can be found posted on kiosks around the convention hotel.
Programming Grid
The Programming Grid is the smallest of our our at-con publications and is literally pocket-sized. It features a condensed listing of the Panels and Events scheduled for the convention weekend in a grid format.
What Signage does Publications create for the convention?
Publications creates the Hotel Maps and Programming & Event Schedules that appear on Kiosks and Signage Boards around the convention.
Publications works with the Programming Department to create the Panel schedules that appear outside of each of the Programming rooms.
Publications creates Banners and other Large Format Signage that appear as designators for CONvergence Venues around the hotel.
Does CONvergence accept advertising?
CONvergence accepts advertising for our SOUVENIR BOOK, and the deadline to submit ads is May 15 each year. A complete listing of our advertising rates and format requirements can be found in the Publications section of this website. The Programming Division works closely with the Advertising Department, which is actually organized under the Marketing Division.
